How to Use

Recommended Use:

  1. Keep to the recommended number of scoops on the label per bottle/Camelbak/tripper – we have done the thinking for you! (You should not water it down)
  2. We suggest that you put EnduraPower into every waterbottle/ Camelbak/ tripper/ hydration system. The light, very refreshing, low/no sweetness, no colour of the Neutral Quench and Lemon-Aid makes this very easy to do! If you feel that you need to race with one bottle of EnduraPower and one bottle of water, then we strongly recommend that you use our GT Gel to top up your electrolytes and energy; or our PaceLyte if you prefer electrolytes only.
  3. Hydration Rate: It has been suggested to hydrate according to bodyweight. Note that this suggestion may differ widely according to the nature and intensity of a particular sport. In addition, individual requirements and preferences affect consumption rate.

Hydration suggestions have included 8ml-10ml/kg bodyweight/hour for moderate to high heart-rate racing/training.

For example, if you weigh

60kgs – Drink ~480mls to 600mls / hour

90kgs – Drink ~720mls to 900mls / hour

100kgs – Drink ~800mls to 1 litre / hour

Note: For Enduro Motorbike Riders: We suggest 10ml-11ml/kg bodyweight/hour

**Lemon-aid and Chilled Berry are recommended for young athletes.
Suggested hydration/consumption rate for children according to bodyweight, the demands of the sport and personal preference. For example, a 30kg junior would drink 240mls-300mls per hour.

RUNNERS: How to attain your best performance with EnduraPower:

For Daily training: Use EnduraPower for faster recovery: Mix a bottle before your morning run (or mix the night before and leave in the fridge). Drink as much as you can before you go for your run and then finish off what is left when you get back.

Take with you when you go for sprint/track work or hill repeats: Sip before, during and finish what is left afterwards.

During Races: (including Comrades /Two Oceans), many folk run the first 10kms on EnduraPower: Mix in an old (clean) waterbottle that you are happy to discard, consume over the first 10kms. In this way, you can avoid the crowded water tables at the beginning of the race. After this, then switch over to GT Gel and water sachets en route.

EnduraPower may also be used instead of gels! You may run the entire race on EnduraPower – no gels. Simply mix (as prescribed) in a waterbottle or tripper/Camelbak, and consume as recommended. Some runners are already doing this – It’s very economical! Plus it’s convenient – especially if you run with a hydration pack, as there is no need to stop at the water tables… And you guarantee yourself clean, available water throughout!

Combination: You can alternate between GT Gel and EnduraPower for variety. Beats boredom and taste-fatigue!

EnduraPower contains significant amounts of electrolytes including sodium to avoid hyponatraemia (water intoxication/over-hydration).

FAQs

FAQ:

Q: What is the difference between EnduraShake and EnduraPower?

A:EnduraShake is a pre-digested, liquid endurance food for athletes. One serving will last you about 3.5-4 hours of high heart-rate training/racing before you start to get hungry. EnduraShake also eliminates the “wall” that usually occurs at around 2.5 hours into a session/event. In addition, EnduraShake is a powerful recovery food and nutrition-loader.

EnduraPower is our state-of-the art hydration formula designed to prevent dehydration and cramping, especially if racing/training in African heat. It has 4 different types of carbohydrate to provide blood sugar stability throughout the event. High in electrolytes, including Kalahari Salt as well as malic acid to support energy within the performing muscles. Safe and effective. Safe for kids.

Q: Does the caffeine make a difference to my performance?

A: It depends on how sensitive your body is to caffeine: If you drink lots of coffee (or other caffeinated drinks) every day, then your body’s response to caffeine will be blunted and you won’t notice any difference at all in your performance.

However, if you never drink coffee, then you’ll notice a caffeine lift, but note that, for some people, this could be unpleasant – especially if you are participating in a high adrenaline sport!

On the other hand, if you’re used to drinking coffee/caffeine throughout the day, and you decide to use the caffeine-free version during your session/ event that lasts several hours, then without your caffeine ’fix’, you will most likely feel tired (and grumpy!). Caffeine can assist the brain to overcome muscle exhaustion.

Q: Is the caffeine bad for me?

A: The caffeine dosage is about as much as a cup of tea per hour. If you are sensitive to caffeine, or if you always train/compete in the evening, then rather choose the “Chilled Berry” and “Lemon-Aid” flavours which are caffeine-free. On the whole caffeine is not a harmful substance. It is also not a banned substance. We recommend the caffeine-free versions for children.

Note:
Using caffeine in the late afternoon/ evening for a high heart-rate/ sprint session, can result in a restless night’s sleep in some individuals. (It’s the combination of caffeine with high heart-rate).

Q: Is EnduraPower safe for my kids?

A: Yes! The “Chilled Berry” and “Lemon-Aid” would be safe for  children. You can make the drink more dilute than the recommended dose. The colour in the berry is from beetroot. Lemon-Aid is colour-free. There is no-caffeine in these flavours.

Suggested hydration/consumption rate for children according to bodyweight, the demands of the sport and personal preference. For example, a 30kg junior would drink 240mls-300mls per hour.

Q: Why Kalahari salt rather than table salt?

A: Kalahari salt is free of all additives and is rich in trace minerals

Q: Will I put on weight if I use EnduraPower?

A: No, if you’re using it during your training/competition. EnduraPower is a sports drink, which is designed to supply the body with sustained energy and electrolytes for safe and healthy athletic performance

Q:What is malic acid?

A: Malic acid is a nutrient naturally found in most fruits. It plays a vital role in energy metabolism, assisting with preventing hypoxia during high intensity work.
