FAQ: I do both Enduro riding and MTB, is there a difference in the way I use GT Gel for each sport?
A: Yes!
1) For Enduros, as you know, this sport is super-intense, so you need to sip the GT Gel (from the 2-stroke bottle) as well as use EnduraPower (at the full strength) in every hydration pack (6 scoops in a 3 litre hydration pack). You should sip the GT gel from the filled 2-stroke bottle intermittently over 5-6 hours in conjunction with the EnduraPower.
Hydrate – Enduros only: Bodyweight x 10ml or 11ml /hr.

2) For MTB, you choose between GT Gel and EnduraPower (you don’t need to consume both simultaneously, unless you’re riding with one bottle of water and one bottle of EnduraPower, that is, diluting the recommended dose of EnduraPower – in which case, you should top up your electrolyte and (stable) carbohydrate intake by sipping GT Gel throughout).
Usually however, one would either sip the GT Gel (from the decanting/ 2-stroke bottle) and drink only water from waterbottles/hydration pack; or put EnduraPower in your waterbottles/hydration pack.
If you fill the little decanting bottle with GT Gel right up to the lid, you will get ~3 hours of high heart-rate MTB/cycling performance (Note: Same for running/trail).
Many athletes ride the first 3 hours on EnduraPower and then do the next 3 hours on GT Gel (with only water in their bottles/hydration pack), in that way, swapping between the two for taste variety.
Hydrate – MTB, Cycling (also Running, Trail): Bodyweight x 8ml to 10ml /hr.

GT Gel is a huge hit in both MTB and Enduro Riding!
For MTB (also cycling, road running and trail), because it allows you to train/race with just water in your water bottles/hydration pack for 3 hours.
For Enduros… “liquid gold” in preventing cramps, also for preventing fatigue, especially in the 2nd half, and if you take a swig before the start, GT Gel helps prevent arm-pump!
